Music at IMBC 18

Find DJs and bands in Room 3 (Wylam’s room) this year at IMBC 18. Below is the roster. Also look out for pop-up live acts in Victoria Baths and aural entertainment curated by room sponsors – each room, as ever, shall have its own feel.

THURSDAY 4th OCTOBER | 5.30pm – 11pm 

Kickin’ Pigeon & DJ Mega

Wet Play in the house! We have none other than Kickin’ Pigeon and DJ Mega going b2b all night long bringing you Thursday night party sounds. Matt Ward (aka Kickin Pigeon) is a staple of the Manchester music scene, working for Piccadilly Records since the dawn of time Matt is an impeccable house & disco DJ guaranteed to get any party started. His partner in crime for the evening is DJ Mega (aka Randy Brunson aka Pharaoh Brunson aka Alvin T. Thwomp aka Tameside Jimmy aka DJ Monopoly Widge…..). DJ Mega is a long standing friend of Matt’s and together with others they run the hugely successful and influential night Wet Play. These guys are the creme de la creme of the Manchester party scene and sure to get IMBC off to one hell of a start.

FRIDAY 5th OCTOBER day session | 11am – 4pm
Whirldfuzzz 
Alexa and Lauren have quietly been killing it on the international DJ scene with their twist on what ‘world music’ is. Their monthly show on NTS radio has become a firm favourite of the station showcasing everything from punk bands from Brazil to Operatic choral performances from Kenya and everything in between. Nothing is off limits in their quest to discover new sounds from the global underground, their sets are like a geography lesson, except really really really fun!

Yadava & Contours

Contours is best known for his releases on Bradley Zero’s ‘Rhythm Section International’ imprint and hip label du jour ‘Shall Not Fade’. He blends broken beat with Afro, Jazz and Latin-House sounds in a unique and soulful way which is guaranteed to make you groove. Oh and you should totally check out his new release which just premiered over on mixmag by the way. His partner in crime for the evening is Manchester’s So Flue Co-Founder Yadava. Yad and the So Flute crew have been holding it down for over 6 years now! Playing at festivals such as Soundwave and releasing music on CHURCH, Yadava is a great sparing partner for Contours and their set will definitely be one to catch!

SATURDAY 6th OCTOBER day session | 11am – 4pm

 

Philip Wainwright & Alan Darker

You know you hear those stories about those Northern Soul DJs who have a record which is worth more than your car? Yeah, well these guys have 5,000 of em.  Phill & Alan are ‘ultra heads’ of the Northern Soul scene,  they went to all the original parties at Wigan Casino and were up at ‘all nighters’ whilst you were still in your nappies. Their love for the genre is only matched by their love for sharing it with people,  guaranteed to take you back to the best Twisted Wheel night you never went to.

LIVE: Francis Lung | Secret Admirer | Wizard King

It wouldn’t be IMBC without some good ol’ fashioned Live Entertainment. This year on Saturday night we have Secret Admirer (featuring members of Former Bullies and Wedding) playing covers including some R.E.M smashes. We are delighted to invite hitmaker Francis Lung back to the festival for a big band extravaganza. Wizard King returns to fire it up. A King who just so happens to be a Wizard / A Wizard who just so happens to be King. Alongside these great acts we have IMBC DJ stalwart Jeff O’Toole playing records before, between and after.

No White Tees

Life ain’t nothing but beer ‘n’ money. On Sunday we go all dirty south Hip-Hop with the No White Tees gang. Also joining them we are lucky to have rising star Katbrownsugar joining us for a two hour set! Not to be missed!
